Spring Fashion Favourites!

I have been so excited for the spring to arrive these past few weeks. The weather isn't exactly on board with my plan to start wearing more summery clothes and less wooly hats! I thought I'd share a few of the trends I'm excited to try out once the weather warms up!

Dungarees

If you follow me on Pinterest you might have spotted my obsession with overalls (dungarees)!
I love that they're so casual and easy for everyday wear.
This H&M pair would be a great starter pair to see how you like wearing them.

I've also spotted these from Free People (a brand I'm currently obsessed with!) which are a bit more expensive at £88, but definitely an investment but from what I've heard hard wearing.

Hats

Hats! I'm obsessed, I've always loved hats in theory, on other people, I've just never necessarily on myself. But recently I bought a wide brim fedora from Primark as a trial run and I can't get enough hats in my life now!

This Classic Fedora from Catarzi for Asos in a dark red. I love how easily a hat like this can dress up an outfit, you could be wearing jeans and a tshirt and a hat would bring an outfit together.

A pale grey/pink would be perfect for spring outfits and summer dresses. This hat from Topshop would make a perfect floppy summer hat.

Stripes

It's not a new trend or obsession for me but I can't wait for more stripes. Stripes that I don't have to hide them with coats, scarfs and so many layers.

I love this boxy stripe dress from Next, I can imagine it paired with a nice pair of tan sandals and a easy denim jacket.

And of course this slouchy stripe tee from People Tree would look perfect paired with jeans or tucked into a floral skirt.

Sandals

I am sick of boots. That's probably something I never thought I would say, but I can't wait to shed my chunky boots in favour of something a little daintier. I am so excited for sandals!

I actually invested in some Saltwater Sandals for Christmas in anticipation of the spring arriving soon. I have heard so many amazing things about these sandals so decided to just dive in and get a simple tan pair.

Lastly I'm in love with the Lotta From Stockholm Clogs, they have all different styles and heel heights, perfect for someone like me who loves the lower heeled options. I'm lusting after the braided low heel clogs! I feel like they'd go so well with all different outfits, jeans, dresses and skirts.

I can't wait for the warmer weather to appear and hopefully I can break out some of these ideas.

There's going to be a lot more fashion posts on writerbakermaker this year, so keep a look out for ootds and seasonal favourites.

I'll also be posting over at northumbriafashsoc.blogspot.co.uk so go check it out! My first post, up this week, is all about my eBay/thrifted clothes and how I style them.

A few wonderful things.

It's been a while since I shared a few wonderful things I've spotted while browsing so here goes!

Image from abeautifulness.com
The lovely Beautiful Mess girls brought out a book recently that I can't wait to flick through, I'm already jealous of the girl interior style so I can imagine the envy I'll get looking through. Find them at abeautifulmess.com!

How adorable is this little cat bed! Lux is a lover of any dark space she'll frequently sneak under the covers or shove her head under your arm because it's cosy and warm. As soon as I spotted this I thought it would be so perfect for a kitty like Luxie! Find this cosy hide out here on Etsy.

Image from The Letter Room on Notonthehighstreet
I'm all about Christmas already I can't wait to decorate and bake for the holidays so when I spotted these ceramic letter dishes I thought I'd share them. These would be perfect with sweets in for parties around Christmas time or full of nibbles for New Years Eve! Find them here on Notonthehighstreet!

Image from Culinary Couture Blog
I'm drooling just looking at these! How delicious do these look, I'm a little obsessed with Cinnamon Rolls and I was browsing for a recipe on Pinterest and I spotted these from here at Culinary Couture! Hopefully I'll get a chance to whip some of these up in the next few weeks!

What are the wonderful things you've spotted while browsing? I'd love to find more awesome bits and pieces so let me know!

Instagram at it's best..

Instagram is such an amazing tool now for businesses and shoppers alike. There are so many amazing Instagram accounts now that I follow just for the satisfaction of seeing the beautiful shots and eyeing up their products so I thought I'd share a few of my favourite!

1. Anthropologie

Autumn Winter favourites!

So I thought it was about time I did a little wish list of the wonderful things I've spotted recently!

Firstly I've loved the recent Cath Kidston campaign for their new tote bags and I am most definitely a totes big kinda girl! I probably carry way too much stuff but I think their totes big bags would be perfect for carrying everything to and from Uni in my final year. You can find their new tote bags here!

Next thing is a MAC lipstick! So Chaud which I love the look of especially for the cold Autumn/Winter we're probably going to have very soon.
I can imagine the reddish coral colour would really pop with pale winter skin!

I spotted this letter set in John Lewis and it reminded me of the gorgeous prints that Liberty have!
Personally I love a handwritten letter and think the idea of writing on these would be amazing. I know lots of people who would love to receive a letter in these.

Something I've been watching! Zoella and Hannah Maggs.
Both of these ladies are so lovely and just great fun to watch! I wish I could make such amazing videos as they do.

My favourite recent find is Shore Projects watches!

Image from www.shoreprojects.com

These watches are very classic and simple so I think they'd blend well with most outfits. I also love that the straps on these watches are interchangeable as they have so many patterns you could buy as many as you like and change with your outfit!

Images from www.shoreprojects.com

These are my top straps! The Polka Dot straps are £25, the Classic straps are £20 and the Leather straps are £30.

That about sums up my favourites for this post! I hope you like some of the things I've posted I certainly do.

Katy

*I chose all of these products myself and was not paid to talk about any of them. But I really do love them and wouldn't talk about them if I didn't.

Summer Colour Crushes

As I've been in town lately I've noticed a few colours around me that I'm loving!

Firstly I've coveting anything in mint green! It's just such a perfect pastel colour, springy and fresh.
I spotted these on Etsy and I'm in love!
Wouldn't these just look gorgeous hanging from the handles of draws or maybe a wardrobe! And plus they're a bargain at just £1.99 each find them here at Whisper of the Pipit on Etsy.

Gold!
I spotted this nail varnish in Boots, it's Max Factor mini in Ivory, not sure ivory is a good description is more of a gold colour. I love how easy it is to apply and how fast it dries, and if you're looking for a matte gold this is the perfect choice. Find it here on the Boots website for £3.99 and they only have this in the mini version.

Peachy pink:
As you can probably guess from my blog Peach/Coral is one of my favourite colours. And after a little look in Primark the other days I came out with a couple of cute little peachy items.
First peachy find was these little floral frilly socks! They're the kind that Topshop made popular but for a fraction of the price as these were only £1.50!

Navy:
This isn't just a summer fav, this is an all year round-everyday of my life kinda favourite. I wear navy probably everyday and I'm currently lusting after this gorgeous Tullip shaped navy cardigan from Topshop for £30. I think it'd be perfect for days when there's a chill in the air and our much awaited trip down to Cornwall at the end of this summer.

Image from Topshop.com
There's my colour crushes for this season, I'll undoubtedly have at least one of these colours in my outfit everyday, even if it's just that cute little gold nail polish.

Katy!

I Am A Mother Missy Lanning- Daily Bumps

So I wanted to share something with you guys that I love.

I've been watching Daily Bumps for a while now and have completely fallen in love with Brian and Missy, and little Ollie of course. If you haven't checked them out yet then go here and you can see how cute Oliver is every day!

While I'm in the UK and we've already had Mother's Day over here, over in the US their Mother's Day is this weekend. In honour of that and of all the amazing Mothers out there Missy, and Brian, have made an incredible video to celebrate.

I Am A Mother- Mother's Day Special 2014

Portrait of a Mother 2013 (Also check out last years video)

I'm not a Mother yet but for me it's one of my biggest aims in life, to create a little family, hopefully in the future I will be honoured enough to have a little baby or two.

But at the moment I only know how amazing the Mothers around me are; my Mum, my Gran, my Auntie and other family members who do such a wonderful job everyday.
So thank you to them for how amazing they are and thanks to Brian and Missy for making such a heartfelt tribute to Mama's everywhere.

Maybe G and I will start vlogging, what do you think?

Teapigs Tea:

I first came across Teapigs tea in Kent while I was on holiday a few years back. I fell head over heels for them and have barely wanted to drink anything else since.

I'm a sucker for loose leaf tea as I think the flavour is ten times better and Teapigs give the option to buy all of their tea loose leaf as well as in tea bags.
At the moment in my cupboard there is:
Two boxes of loose leaf Super Fruit,
Four boxes of loose leaf Everyday Brew,
and
One boxes of Peppermint tea temples.

And I love them all!

The peppermint tea is just so delicious and no where near as sick sweet as other peppermint brands I've tried before. It's closer to mint leaves in hot water and I think that's what makes Teapigs so good at what they're doing.

My personal favourite and my first Teapigs discovery was Super Fruit, it has cranberries, blueberries, elderberry and many more berries all packed in to one tea. Many fruit teas I think can smell delicious but lack any flavour but the combination of large pieces of dried berries and their own tea temples, which are much more roomy and use a biodegradable mesh, make the tea flavoursome and just so delicious!

I brewed up a cup of Super Fruit to enjoy while I wrote this. And it's still as good as ever!
It's super simple, just pop your tea temple boiling water for three minutes, remove your temple and enjoy!

G loves this one:
It's just good old English Breakfast (or now called Everyday Brew) but somehow it tastes better than any other English Breakfast tea I've ever had. It's always difficult to explain how English Breakfast tastes to me, it's just a perfect morning tea to wake you up.

I also love their Camomile tea and the Mao Feng Green tea. My next try is going to be Spiced Winter Red tea or the Green Tea & Mint.
Another great thing about these teas is that many of them can also be made into Iced teas by simply making the tea like normal and then topping up with ice water.

Perfect simple summer drinks!

A few wonderful things!

It's spring! Well apparently... I'm not sure it's really spring here, we're yet to have any sun!
To brighten up your spring I thought I'd share a few wonderful things with you all:

(Image from Cocorrina.com)

Isn't this just the cutest spring Wallpaper! It's going to make my Mac feel like spring even when it's misty and rainy outside. If you want brightening up too find this wallpaper here at Cocorrina.com

This Gin & Elderflower cocktail from Jamie Oliver's website is the thing of my summery dreams! The new flavours from Gordons gin also look super yummy! Elderflower and Cucumber for your summery picnic cocktails.

(Image from ATTN Studio)

These Diamond planters from ATTN Studio on Notonthehighstreet (one of my favourite websites) are so pretty and springy!
I'm looking forward to moving and having more space to plant and grow things and these would be so cute for growing herbs indoors.

(Image from Jane Means)

My family have a tradition of an Easter tree at home, even though I can't remember how this started but I do think it's so pretty. And putting pastel colours everywhere is always fun! These little Speckled Easter Eggs from Jane Means on Notonthehighstreet would be perfect for adding a little colour to your home.

(Image from Trelabela Etsy)

Ahh! As you know I'm a cat lover and this cushion is just perfect! From Trelabela on Etsy the cushion is hand painted and just the sweetest thing. He reminds me of the Cheshire Cat with that smirk. Also find Trelabela on blogger.

I've been swooning over Eames chairs for ages now and of course I can only dream of affording one but I dream all the same. I love how Mypeeptoes.com styled her chair and just made it look even more perfect to me. Maybe one day...

(Image from Halfbakedharvest.com)

These Blueberry Granola bars from Halfbakerharvest look so yummy! These are on my Easter holiday to do list. I can imagine that these would be delicious for breakfast or as a snack, the yogurt drizzle looks to die for.

I'm looking forward to the end of Lent as I can finally eat some chocolate again. And the Easter break as I'll be 20 very soon. Of course who isn't looking forward to spring and some warmer weather!

What are you looking forward to in the next few months?
