Spring has Sprung!

Spring is here, kind of, and I couldn't be happier! It feels like we've had a very long and dreary winter and these past few weeks I've been not so subtly willing the weather to warm up and the sun to come back to us.

I've been pinning since the end of December in a hope that at least my ice cold extremities would realise Spring was coming soon and hold on a little longer. I'm hoping I get to hold an Easter dinner of sorts this year, I love Easter and the refreshing feeling of starting over, warmer weather and the abundance of fresh blooms and colour again.

I thought I'd share a few of the pins I've spotted and loved while I've been planning my spring.

I am a Lemon Meringue fiend! Literally give me lemon meringue anything and I'll run away with it and not share any with you. I imagine these would make the most amazing dessert for Easter dinner, light after that Christmas rivalling meal and super easy to make before hand.

Everyone loves a pretty meal and salad in teacup is my idea of adorable dinner. Salad can be so easily dressed up and made per each persons request, a simple addition to your meal.

This one makes me feel like summer is here and I mean pink lemonade is so delicious and refreshing it will undoubtedly disappear instantly.

One of my favourite parts of Christmas is the crackers, as cheesy and filled with £1 toys as they are, and the idea of recreating these at Easter is just perfect for me! These from yvestown are made in the prettiest papers and you can even use up scrap wall paper.

Chocolate Cake + Bunny Bum = Perfect Easter cake! This little guy is just plain cute and when you pair him with Chocolate cake and buttercream you are on to a winner in my book. This little log would make a perfect centrepiece in the middle of your table.

Talking of tables this display just brightens up my day, daffodils are such a sunny happy flower, I can't help but smile when I see them popping up along the road side and in unexpected places, so I can just imagine them brightening up my Easter Sunday dinner table. Plus I love the dainty Anthroplogie bowls lining the centre of the table.

I'm so excited for Spring, and not just because the sun might make an appearance sometime soon, it helps that it's also my 21st birthday and I finally graduate from University.

If you want to see more of my crazy pinning (believe me I think it's the only thing I do in my, very rare, spare time) go follow me on Pinterest.

Wedding Wednesday: Update

I can officially say we're getting married next year and I am so excited.

It is 643 days until we get married, or 1 and 3/4 years if you want to be slightly less meticulous about it. We are getting married, sometimes it sinks in and I can't explain how excited I feel, I get to be G's wife. We get to spend the rest of our lives together, go camping, travel the world, start a family, sometimes I look at G and have to take a second to think and breathe.

I wouldn't say wedding planning has stopping but I'm in the middle of a super busy few months finishing my degree and work experience. I'm still pinning away and I've been drawing up ideas for our save the dates/invitations. I hope to use natural sources to make our invitations so recycled card or even maybe wood.

We went to visit Hexham Winter Gardens just before Christmas, and it's even more stunning in person than in pictures. Once we're over our busy period we're hoping to take another look maybe this time with our families to see what they think. The space is everything we want, a nice open space we can set up how we like, we can decorate how ever we like bring in different props and lights to suit our style and there's also outside space which if the English winter weather surprises us I would love to include.

Dress wise my Mama and I went to visit a small dress shop in Corbridge near to Newcastle, I tried on
a few dresses and did find one in particular I loved, in a style I didn't think I would like. But we are going to look around again once this busy few months is over. There is a new outlet opening in Gateshead with lots of one of dresses at a reduced price (which is of course a bonus) so we're going to go for a browse.

I am getting started on drawing up some invitation/save the date ideas (check my Pinterest! There's a whole Invitations board) and I've so many doodles in different notebooks.

Hopefully soon we can start making more plans and setting things in stone, until then I'll be pinning and day dreaming. If you're intrigued check out my Pinterest where I lots of wedding boards filled with my ideas!

Valentines DIY: Origami Hearts

I thought I'd get started on some Valentines prep this week and share a little DIY with you!

I love origami and making hearts fits perfectly as Valentines is only a couple of weeks away! These are super simple and you can make them in all different sizes. They would look great scattered on the table for valentines dinner or stuck to your present as decorations.

Take a square piece of card or paper. Fold it in half along the diagonal, corner to corner. Do this both ways on your card so that it is split into 4 triangles.

Take the top of your square and fold it down to the middle line as you see above.

Next take the bottom corner and fold it up to the top of the opposite side.

Next up take one side of your card and fold it over so that the inside lies straight down the middle.

Do the same on to the other side so you have a pointed heart shape.

Then take each side of the heart and fold the points behind so that they are flat.

Finally do the same thing to the top points and there you're done!

I made these in all different sizes and I think they look cute decorating our office. I'll be filling our table with them on Valentines day and might just keep them up for fun afterwards!

I hope these brighten your table on Valentines day!

Spring Fashion Favourites!

I have been so excited for the spring to arrive these past few weeks. The weather isn't exactly on board with my plan to start wearing more summery clothes and less wooly hats! I thought I'd share a few of the trends I'm excited to try out once the weather warms up!

Dungarees

If you follow me on Pinterest you might have spotted my obsession with overalls (dungarees)!
I love that they're so casual and easy for everyday wear.
This H&M pair would be a great starter pair to see how you like wearing them.

I've also spotted these from Free People (a brand I'm currently obsessed with!) which are a bit more expensive at £88, but definitely an investment but from what I've heard hard wearing.

Hats

Hats! I'm obsessed, I've always loved hats in theory, on other people, I've just never necessarily on myself. But recently I bought a wide brim fedora from Primark as a trial run and I can't get enough hats in my life now!

This Classic Fedora from Catarzi for Asos in a dark red. I love how easily a hat like this can dress up an outfit, you could be wearing jeans and a tshirt and a hat would bring an outfit together.

A pale grey/pink would be perfect for spring outfits and summer dresses. This hat from Topshop would make a perfect floppy summer hat.

Stripes

It's not a new trend or obsession for me but I can't wait for more stripes. Stripes that I don't have to hide them with coats, scarfs and so many layers.

I love this boxy stripe dress from Next, I can imagine it paired with a nice pair of tan sandals and a easy denim jacket.

And of course this slouchy stripe tee from People Tree would look perfect paired with jeans or tucked into a floral skirt.

Sandals

I am sick of boots. That's probably something I never thought I would say, but I can't wait to shed my chunky boots in favour of something a little daintier. I am so excited for sandals!

I actually invested in some Saltwater Sandals for Christmas in anticipation of the spring arriving soon. I have heard so many amazing things about these sandals so decided to just dive in and get a simple tan pair.

Lastly I'm in love with the Lotta From Stockholm Clogs, they have all different styles and heel heights, perfect for someone like me who loves the lower heeled options. I'm lusting after the braided low heel clogs! I feel like they'd go so well with all different outfits, jeans, dresses and skirts.

I can't wait for the warmer weather to appear and hopefully I can break out some of these ideas.

There's going to be a lot more fashion posts on writerbakermaker this year, so keep a look out for ootds and seasonal favourites.

I'll also be posting over at northumbriafashsoc.blogspot.co.uk so go check it out! My first post, up this week, is all about my eBay/thrifted clothes and how I style them.
